Faux Pas

O.k. so every woman should know this.
I mean, isn't this THE rule of thumb when buying shoes?

When you buy new shoes. you must always take the sticker tag off the bottom of the shoes!
See how ridiculous it looks ?

Races in the Sand

Someone recently left a comment on a post asking me what kind of camera I use. I cannot remember which post, and can't find the comment to post a response. So I'll just do it here.

I use a Canon Powershot SD880 IS Digital ELPH. I long to get a Nikon of some sort...any sort really! I just want me a Nikon but can't bring myself to spend that much money on a camera right now...I mean come on! Shoes vs camera? Shoes win. Hands down!

Sunny Fun on Sunday

A couple of weeks ago at the Cornwall Beach the EarlyAct Clubs of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay held a family Fun day. The Fun day was the culmination of a coin collection drive conducted by the EarlyAct clubs in an effort to raise funds for the needy Norwood Basic School.
What an effort it turned out to be! The EarlyActors managed to raise over US$2,000 in coins collected! Congrats to them! More photos of Cornwall Beach and the fun day coming soon :)

The Montego Bay Animal Haven

I had to take time out to highlight this very, very worthy cause. It's the Montego Bay Animal Haven. Recently formed by a group of friends and professionals in Montego Bay, Jamaica, who are just the greatest, kindest, sweetest, most loving people in the world! The Haven's primary aim is to help animals who are abandoned and starving; ensure they are medically fit, spayed or neutered and then re-homed to responsible, loving new owners.

I tell you, when you find people this selfless in the cause of animals, it's truly a blessing! This is the ONLY shelter for animals in Montego Bay. Dare I say it? It is the only shelter in all of western Jamaica!

Last month they brought in vets from overseas and conducted a free neuter/spay programme. Their aim was to neuter/spay 300 stray dogs & cats. They were not only successful in meeting that target, but they exceeded it by finding homes for several of the stray animals! The story appeared in the Gleaner newspaper here.

I commend this group for starting this programme and I sincerely wish them all the best. I definitely will continue to support them in whatever way I can and hope others in the community will as well. The group right now is in desperate need of a permanent place/land from which they can operate full time. They plan eventually to offer several services that are so greatly needed in Montego Bay. Montego Bay currently does NOT have an emergency vet system. If you live in Montego Bay and your animal gets ill on a Sunday or Public Holiday or after the vet's office is closed (4:00pm) then there is NOBODY to call...the animal must remain as is until the next working day. This is one service the Animal haven hopes to offer.

Support them if you can financially or otherwise (prayers, e-mails of support & encouragement, spreading the word, etc) and be sure to Check them out on facebook as well.

Signs- Take 1

Idler's Rest, Black River, Saint Elizabeth
Most people don't think about Black River, Saint Elizabeth when they think of places to visit in Jamaica. In fact, most people tend to ignore the south coast altogether. For my own personal selfish reasons I'm happy about that. Because it means less crowds for me, less people on the beaches for meeeee, less tourists in general for meeeeeee! :-D

But if you are planning a trip to Jamaica take a look at the South Coast. Seriously. Jamaica is such a diverse tourist attraction. It's not all about sun, sand and sea, people. I'm a North Coast Dweller, so the South Coast is my second favourite place in Jamaica - second only to the parish of Portland.

Idler's Rest Beach Hotel is just one of the amazing South Coast Hotels. It's an absolutely fantastic property and worth checking out. Especially if you want a beach all to yourself! :)
